The Chromebook

Chromebook

One of my favorite computing innovations is the chromebook. The chromebook was first invented by Jeff Nelson in 2011 and the first chromebooks for sell began shipping later that year on June 15, 2011. They where manufactured by Acer Inc. and Samsung and sold everywhere. Later in 2012 a desktop version, called a Chromebox, was introduced and two years later a new device, called a Chromebase, was introduced. Since the chromebook was released millions of them have been sold and by 2018 chromebooks now make up 60% of computers purchased by USA schools.

One of the reasons I like the chromebook because of how cheap it is yet still high quality. One reason for that is beacause they are designed to utilize online web applications and cloud storage, rather than programs and files loaded onto a hard drive. As a result they are very light and cost less. Chromebooks can still do the things most computers can but are not so large and heavy. The chromebook uses the chrome web browser as its primary user interface instead of launching programs from the desktop or something similar. Chromebooks use cheaper software and hardware but are still high quality and easy to use and as a result it is one of my favorite computing innovations.
